Next Intake Set for Even Greater Success
Thanks to the VUT/Sasol Entrepreneur Programme, the second cohort of enthusiastic entrepreneurs are ready and geared to begin. They are extremely excited about their excellent ideas that they hope will become the breathing ground to fertile business that they can implement. This became apparent during the stringent interviews that gave them entry into the programme.
The organising committee and lecturers resolved at a recent meeting that the programme will be restructured to enrich the curriculum, including the opportunity for the students to gain experimental training at the various industry and business sites. This will enhance their experience and award them a practical and deeper understanding of how business operates. Practical, hands-on training, coupled with theory, is the winning formula that sets this programme apart from just gaining soft skills without any form of educational backing. With two major sponsors such as VUT and Sasol, the trainees will also be given the opportunity to mingle with top names that have carved a space in the marketplace as self-taught millionaires. Their experiences, in-depth knowledge and skills, including the hurdles that they had to overcome, will serve as role models to our budding entrepreneurs. These humble beginnings an eventually become success stories in years to come. The new students will be involved in various activities that will bring out the best in them and boost their confidence to ensure that their future endeavours are successful. Our very own Dr Joe Molete; Executive Director of the VUT Southern Gauteng Science and Technology Park will be instrumental in changing mindsets with his power-packed motivation seminars that will ensure sustainability for success.
“We are extremely grateful to Sasol for partnering with us to make this programme such a huge success. Unemployed youth are plentiful within our communities and this project will give them hope for a brighter future, said Selvia Rathebe; Project Coordinator.
